So frickin cute😻
I had a discussion with a friend the other day, were she explained that she’s started seeing a guy she’s been friends w/for awhile. Shortly after the relationship turned “romantic” she was met on more than 1 occasion with requests from the guy that she buy him things… When she refused he told her “girls are supposed to buy guys things”. Needless to say, this the relationship was short lived, bc his requests didn’t stop and his attitude changed when she failed to meet his demands. More and more as a young black woman I see guys my age behave as though they do not know their place, be it in society, the world, or simply in a relationship. I happen to believe that it’s a symptom of growing up in broken homes. With no father around day to day to show them the roles that a man plays, and basically how to be a man, young (black) men have the idea that the woman should be the sole bread winner and provider. Is this the most pathetic repercussion of the increased trend in divorce beginning in the 1960’s? What will the future hold if young men fail to understand their responsibilities in society? What examples will they set for our children? That men are useless, worthless and depend on women? That all they are good for is making babies? Something has truly got to give. Where is the pride and self respect that should be instilled in a man? Why are we teaching our young men to be mamma’s boys? A woman cannot teach a little boy how to be a man. These guys are starting to exhibit the bitchy behavior of females. How far will this emasculation go? I for 1 have always appreciated a mans role in society, it is very necessary, for the sake of cultural balance. Something has got to give… Soon.
